The firm is a pioneer in emerging and international markets covering various growth and income strategies.
Our success is a direct result of the talent, skills and persistence of our people, and we are looking for an Investment Assistant Trainee to join our Emerging Markets investment team in Edinburgh on a 12-month contract.
We partner with Investment 20/20 to give school leavers, and those who recently graduated from university, the opportunity to get work experience and training to develop new skills. We want to look at what individuals can offer in the future, not just what they have achieved in the past.
Who are the Emerging Markets Team and what will the is the Investment Assistant responsible for
The team comprises seven investment managers who conduct research on companies across the world’s emerging countries. Each investor is responsible for making investment recommendations within a particular industry, for example retail, manufacturing, or technology. The investors use a wide range of existing written research and financial data to support their investment analysis. Their investment conclusions are discussed to decide which companies to invest in and their output is used across the firm to keep clients informed about the investments we make on their behalf.
The Investment Assistant would assist the team in finding research materials, filtering it for relevance and preparing it for use by each investor. Preparing data packs for use in investment discussions and presentations. Answering requests for investment information from other parts of our business.
The role provides an opportunity to learn about the investment industry, to gain proficiency across a range of investment industry software tools and to help our investors work more productively. The team operates mostly from Martin Currie’s office in Edinburgh and the expectation is that the role would be primarily office based, albeit with the ability to accommodate some hybrid work.
