Why did you choose this company and role?
EY is known in particular for its strong company values and friendly atmosphere. I have always wanted to pursue a career in finance and so this seemed like the ideal opportunity for me - plus you get a great qualification at the end of it. I really enjoyed the time I spent with EY doing an internship over the summer, so I am delighted to be able to continue working for them.
Please tell us about the application process - what did you have to do?
The assessment centre included three psychometric tests (maths, writing and non-verbal reasoning), followed by a group task and an interview with a Partner.
What did you find was the most difficult part of the application process?
The interview was the most nerve-wracking!
What was the most enjoyable part of the application process?
I actually liked the psychometric tests - particularly non-verbal reasoning and maths.
How did you prepare for the application process?
I completed some practice tests online and prepared answers to potential interview questions.
What top tips would you give to someone who wanted to follow in your footsteps?
I would say make sure to practise the tests (particularly in the allotted time frame as they are very time-pressured.) Also, on the day it's important to come across as confident but not arrogant - the assessors are looking to make sure you can get on well with other people and work in teams effectively.
