Sarah recently secured an assurance graduate role with EY, after attending the Bright Network Festival and having the opportunity to meet with the firm. She will start in September 2018 after completing her Economics degree from the University of Leeds. We caught up with her to ask about the application process so that she could share some of her experiences with other Bright Network members.
Why did you choose this firm and this role?
I went to the BN festival in 2015 and went around the stands, applied to everyone, and EY were the ones to come back to me!
What was the toughest part of the application process? And your favourite part?
Numerical tests were the hardest (and I do economics!); Situational judgement were the most enjoyable, listing things in order of importance in a given situation or scenario.
Were you surprised by anything in the process?
I read so much in advance about the application process that I knew what to expect at each stage. However, I had to do a one-on-one presentation as part of the interview process, which was pretty strange.
What three top tips would you give your fellow Bright Network members?
Start applying for internships in first year, if you get into one then that pretty much guarantees you a graduate role, and internships are much easier to get into than the direct graduate entry roles.
